Terms of Service
Effective date: 1 May 2026 · Version 1.0
1. Eligibility
BITE Digital is a private internal application of the Banaras Institute of Teacher's Education (BITE). Access is limited to BITE staff who have been pre-registered by the Trustee. Self-registration is not available.
2. Acceptable use
By using BITE Digital you agree to:
- Use the app only for institutional duties
- Keep your authentication credentials confidential and report any suspected compromise to the Trustee within 24 hours
- Provide accurate information when completing tasks or filing reschedule requests
- Not attempt to circumvent role-based access controls, audit logging, or rate limits
- Comply with the platform policies of any connected service (Facebook, Instagram, Google, LinkedIn, etc.) when interacting with that service via BITE Digital
3. Connected platform data
When BITE connects a Facebook Page, Instagram Business account, Google Business Profile, or LinkedIn Page, BITE Digital reads public engagement data from those platforms via official APIs and stores a derived view for institutional reporting. You confirm:
- You are an authorised admin of the platform you connect
- You have read and accepted the relevant platform's terms (Meta Platform Terms, Google API Services User Data Policy, LinkedIn API Terms of Use)
- BITE Digital may revoke your platform connection at any time and zero its tokens (e.g. on offboarding)
4. Data ownership
Personal data you input (name, email, comments, evidence files) belongs to you and is processed under our Privacy Policy. Operational data generated by your work (task completions, audit metadata) is owned by BITE for institutional compliance purposes.
5. Service availability
BITE Digital is provided "as is". While we operate to high availability targets (99.5% uptime, p95 API latency under 500ms), we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance windows are announced via email at least 48 hours in advance.
6. Termination
The Trustee may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without cause. On termination, your active sessions are revoked, your access ceases, and audit metadata of your past actions is retained per the retention policy in our Privacy Policy.
7. Liability
BITE's liability for any claim arising from your use of BITE Digital is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law. BITE Digital is an internal-only operational tool; reliance on its outputs for decisions outside the institution is not supported.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
